Various
special programs are undertaken at the Southeastern University of Oklahoma, Northwestern,
Northeastern, OSU Tulsa, OKlahoma State University Oklahoma City and other
colleges within the state. Some major programs are mentioned below:
1. Environmental Science Graduate Program
This is a new approach to graduate
education and will attract you because of its flexibility where you can think
beyond one single discipline. If you are a graduate then you are eligible for
degrees (such as M.S. or Ph.D.) in this program. Here each one who enrolls for
this program will develop a degree plan that will address individual career goals.
There are minimum requirements for the program. You have to take the required
environmental science course, ecology and two additional courses. These two areas
are physical and social science.
2. Independent Study
Independent
Study has over 100 undergraduate courses including those in multiple delivery
modes, which are made available by utilizing print-based media as well as videotape,
audiotape, CD-ROM and internet. Most of the courses are taken by university faculty
and are designed to parallel as closely as possible with those offered in the
college campus. Textbooks, assignments and exams have been prepared accordingly.
There are credit and non-credit courses too.

K-12 Distance Learning
K-12 Distance
Learning Academy provides courses for high school credit such as:
AP Calculus
Online - If you are a high school student then this program is designed for you
as it is based on college level calculus courses. Here you get an opportunity
to get college credit while performing your entire home, school and other activities,
as all the lessons are available online.
AP Physics Video Courses- This is
a one-year course for high school students and is based upon algebra and physics
and particularly for those who have strong mathematics background. All the topics
covered in this course are available through satellite.
German Online- This
course is available online and is again for high school students who wish to study
German language. You have all audio and video versions available here alongwith
other resources to learn.
Spanish Online-Spanish Online is for high school
students and is one-year program basically taking up various aspects like speaking,
writing, listening and reading Spanish. You have flexibities of format and classes
schedule along with student centered activities. More emphasis is on student-directed
learning whereby use of good vocabulary, grammar presentations and cultural integration
is made.

4. Women Studies
Program
This program has been designed to know about women issues. If
you wish to explore women and other gender issues then this is a certificate program
open for all undergraduates. It covers issues such as private spheres of the life
of women, theories of inequality, women's language and ethnic perspectives.
